Campus Elegy
I was inspired to make these images while experiencing the isolation and loneliness of the pandemic lockdown. The photographs depict the Moorpark Community College campus where I teach photography and represent to me the desolation the campus community experienced at that time.
I used a large format camera and hand coated glass plate negatives to make the images and made cyanotype prints from the resulting negatives. I feel that the process I used has an inherent elegiac quality that matches the absence of campus life during that difficult time.
